Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
